Emergency Room

Emergency Room Needs

  • The one stick hospitalization starts in the ER with access choices made by ER staff.
  • The Emergency Department staff often does not have time to waste, and workflow efficiencies and healthcare worker safety is a prime consideration.
  • 325 PSI rating and reliable gravity flow rates help support one stick hospitalization, integrated design combines separate IV components into a single closed system, enhancing workflow
  • Larger Gauge Sizes - Deltaven® Fast Flash is currently the only closed system with a 16 Gauge option, but also offers a range from 16G to 26G, allowing the clinician to select the appropriate gauge size based on patient need
  • Notch needle technology across full range of gauges and lengths
  • Deltaven Fast Flash’s v-point notched needle is designed to help increase successful starts and provide early confirmation of vein entry1
  • Insertion success is supported with less force to penetrate the skin - 24% less force needed to penetrate the skin compared to a leading closed system catheter competitor2
  • Large push off tab located on the safety mechanism for easy and controlled threading – 35% less force to advance than a leading closed system catheter competitor2
  • Provide protection against accidental needlestick injuries and blood exposure during the insertion process by using passive needle protection
  • Designed to enhance patient safety and satisfaction with wing stability and multiple configurations to meet ER’s emergent access needs

** Testing was completed based on ISO recommendations for testingsingle-use intra-vascular catheters. A constant-level tank is used, fitted with a delivery tube and a male 6% Leur taper fitting. To ensure consistency, the “open” flow rate of the system is 525 +/-25 mL/min., at a hydrostatic head height of 1000 +/-5mm.

Radiology/CT

Deltaven Fast Flash laminar flow design reinforces the 325 PSI rating from the tip to tail, giving fast flow rate and withstanding pressure for complex CT procedures seen today.

  • 24G to 16G catheters are pressure rated up to 325PSI
  • The integrated extension set helps reduce the chance of leaking or disconnect during a procedure
  • Laminar flow design at the tip of the catheter allows fluid to be injected into the bloodstream and not into the vein walls
  • Flow rates designed to meet clinical needs allowing for gauge size selection based on patient and pressure injection needs of the procedure prescribed (see chart)

Difficult IV Access (DIVA) Patients

Positive clinician and patient experience come from reducing IV complications and minimizing the total cost of care through successful starts, dwell time, and vein preservation. Deltaven Fast Flash helps address these needs by design

  • Advanced design to help prolong dwell time, decrease stick rates, and help reduce IV complications during use (i.e., infiltration, dislodgement, phlebitis)
  • Deltaven Fast Flash’s v-point notched needle is designed to help increase successful starts and provide early confirmation of vein entry1
  • 24% less force needed to penetrate the skin compared to a leading closed system catheter competitor2
  • First attempt cannulation success can be increased by choosing a notched needle1
  • Large push off tab located on the safety mechanism designed for easy and controlled threading – 35% less force to advance than a leading closed system catheter competitor2
  • The single or dual port design offers flexibility to maximize the efficiency of medication delivery
  • A wide variety of gauges and lengths allows clinicians to choose the right catheter for each patient3

Vascular Access Teams

Device choice and utilization to meet the needs of the patient is critical to completion of prescribed therapy.3 Deltaven Fast Flash has comparable studies to show ease of insertion and threading of catheter support successful starts.

  • Closed system catheters or Integrated short peripheral catheter (ISPC) have been studied to show increased dwell times up to 144 hours compared to open PIVC providing additional device choices to vascular access teams
  • Advanced design to help prolong dwell time, decrease stick rates, and help reduce IV complications during use (i.e., infiltration, dislodgement, phlebitis)
  • The wide variety of gauges and lengths allows clinicians to choose the right catheter for each patient 26G to 16G and 19mm through to 45mm
  • Designed with a sharp V-point to help minimize the force needed to access the patient's veins
  • A catheter designed to move with your patient no matter where they go throughout your hospital
